VIV, DRAPED KNITTED TOP IN PURE WOOL
One of my favourite tops transformed into a knit. The deliberate choice of a loose knitting stitch in pure wool creates a supple and elastic shape that fits the body perfectly, no matter what your figure. The drape creates a sculptural form, that adds an original and interesting edge to this garment.
I love clothes you can play around with, and this top can be worn in two ways; with the drape at the front or back, depending on your mood.
This knitted top is part of a collection resulting from a collaboration with a small artisanal business in Cape Town, South Africa. Cowgirlblues was created by Bridget Henderson, a passionate knitter like myself, to fulfill her dream of starting a social enterprise in her home country of South Africa, and to share the wonderful qualities of merino, mohair and silk available locally. These fibres are dyed by hand in an incredible range of colours, and then turned into balls for knitting or crocheting, as well as into clothing. She bought old domestic knitting machines from the 70s and trained her employees to use them. We worked together on design ideas I had, when I was in Cape Town in February / March of this year; here is the fruit of our collaboration!
