Round bowl in sustainable cow horn
These beautiful round polished bowls are made from zebu horn. They make great recipients for jewellery, olives and snacks or a place to throw your pocket change.
The zebu, very common in Madagascar, is a type of cow with a hump between its shoulders. Horn, known for its resistance and fine structure, has a density and hardness superieur to many woods. It is a by-product of the zebu, which of course is under no threat as a species and is completely sustainable; in Madagascar the zebu has free range in its natural environment. The talented madagascan crafters practice their ancestral art, heating the horn, helping them to work it into whatever shape they desire.
Made piece by piece, no two items are exactly the same. As the material used is variable in colour and tone, each product has a unique colour variation, and the photo is a guideline only.
Measures 12cm diameter.
