A poncho knitted by hand in pure 4-ply wool, where the structure and the pattern are the same thing: a dense texture of small sculpted points rises out of the knitting itself, built stitch by stitch, using technique and physics. The three dimensions are made, not added.
Built from a long rectangle folded double and joined along one edge, with a seam left open where an arm can pass through. The rippled edge is not a finish applied afterwards: it is what the spiked stitch does as it resolves, and it runs the length of the piece.
The colours bleed in and out of one another. Grey drifts into mushroom, mushroom into brown, never in blocks but in slow passage, so the eye follows a gradient that never quite resolves. As the poncho moves, the points catch the light differently with every turn, so the colour shifts with the wearer.
Very stretchy, 50 cm from shoulder to hem over a generous 170 cm of knitting, draping into sculptural folds that move with you. Muted, earthy, and quietly architectural.
Around 90 hours of hand-knitting, one pair of hands, 430 g of 4-ply pure wool. One of one.
There is no second one.
