Striped Ribbed Sweater, Black and Cream, No. 5

A sweater knitted by hand in single rib, pure 4-ply wool, in graded stripes of black, slate, charcoal and cream.

Single rib is knitwear at its most honest: the same two stitches repeated until the fabric itself becomes the design. It follows the body closely, stretches with it, and returns to shape.

The stripes run horizontal and uninterrupted from hem to neckline, with the colour rhythm shifting through wider and narrower bands so the eye never settles into a pattern it can predict. A wide neckline sits at the collarbone; sleeves finish at the elbow.

Close fitting, 41 cm at the underarms stretching comfortably to 50 cm, with a length of 56 cm from shoulder to hem. Pure wool, warm without weight.

There is no second one.
